Horizon Therapeutics plc Provides Financial Support to Local and Regional Organizations to Assist with Ongoing COVID-19 Relief Efforts

DUBLIN — Horizon Therapeutics plc, a biopharmaceutical company focused on researching, developing and commercialising medicines that address critical needs for people impacted by rare and rheumatic diseases, announced today that it has provided financial support to ALONE, Enable Ireland and Family Carers Ireland to aid with ongoing COVID-19 relief efforts.

“Ireland has been significantly impacted by COVID-19 and it is our responsibility to collaborate with these organisations to provide meaningful support for the most vulnerable populations,as well as those who care for them,” said Alan Mac Neice, vice president, manufacturing and supply chain, Dublin site leader, Horizon.

Horizon has provided €250,000 to ALONE this year for ongoing care for older people impacted by COVID-19, including mental health and general wellbeing programming.

“Horizon Therapeutics has been wonderfully generous to ALONE and has been a core supporter of everything we have aimed to achieve throughout this pandemic,” said Seán Moynihan, CEO, ALONE. “It is only with aid like theirs that will allow us to sustain our elevated supports to older people in Ireland. A challenging year for so many, yet Horizon has demonstrated a strong corporate responsibility, allowing us to keep older people supported in their homes for as long as they wish.” 

In addition, Horizon provided €35,000 to Family CarersIreland, which will assist with support for family carers across Ireland who care for children or adults with physical or intellectual disabilities, older people, the terminally ill or those suffering from chronic illnesses or addiction.  The company also provided €35,000 to Enable Ireland, which will allow the organisation to continue services for children and adults with disabilities and their families.
