FORMER TAOISEACH ENDA KENNY LAUNCHES “JOURNEY TO THE EDGE”

Former Taoiseach Enda Kenny TD has launched Enda O’Coineen’s new book, ‘JOURNEY TO THE EDGE’. The launch took place this evening in the members library in the RDS in Dublin.

Published by Ballpoint Press, Journey To The Edge details Enda’s extraordinary 2017/18 solo circumnavigation of the world and tells a personal story of pushing the boundaries and taking risk in business, life and adventure.

It also champions the Atlantic Youth Trust whose mission is to connect youth with the ocean and adventure.

At the heart of the story is O'Coineen's successful solo circumnavigation of the World. The gripping narrative includes his qualification as the first ever Irish competitor in the Vendee Globe Around the World Race and finishing third in the solo Trans-Atlantic Race as part of the World Series.

Enda suffered the heartbreak of losing his mast mid-race in one of the most remote parts of the World 180 miles south of South Island New Zealand.

This book recounts how after finally reaching safety, he began the painstaking rebuilding of his vessel before circumnavigating New Zealand and then restarting the solo around the world voyage and finishing last year.

A core theme of the book is how society increasingly makes more and more rules (one of the influences he believes led to Brexit) in the name of safety and security when much of it is for control and tax.

Enda believes that this is why independent trusted media is important and books contributing to the debate in an age of sound-bites and shortened attention spans are crucial.
