29 Oct 2019Johnson Hana International (Johnson Hana) – the country’s first on-demand lawyer company and managed legal services consultancy – is to raise €5m to fund continued growth and expansion in Ireland, the UK and the US. The firm has appointed IBI Corporate Finance to lead the fund raising round which is expected to complete in the coming months. Johnson Hana was established in 2016 by former barrister Dan Fox. In 2017 the company raised €1m from investors including Dan Kiely (founder of global BPO business, Voxpro) and Enterprise Ireland.
Inspired by the growing market in alternative legal services in other jurisdictions and the move towards flexible working practices,
Johnson Hana uses advanced technology together with project managers and a network of qualified lawyers to manage large legal and compliance related data projects for corporates and also for other law firms.
Over 1,000 lawyers are registered on the Johnson Hana platform and the company has worked directly with over 150 lawyers in the last year alone.
Johnson Hana lawyers are seeking a more suitable work/life balance or a more flexible approach to working.Johnson Hana also “insources” lawyers on variable length contracts within the legal departments of companies and state agencies.
The company aims to re-shape the way corporates approach the hiring of legal staff and, supported by state-of-the-art technology and onsite project managers, this “insourcing” facility allows legal departments to respond to fluctuating demands for legal services without the need to make permanent appointments.
