Statement by UL Foundation
12 Apr 2019The Board of the University of Limerick Foundation confirms that the Chief Executive Officer, Mr. David Cronin, has notified them of his decision to step down from the Foundation to take up a new position in the United States of America. Mr. Cronin has been appointed President & CEO of the American Ireland Funds.
Speaking today, Mrs. Loretta Brennan Glucksman, Chairman of the Foundation, paid tribute to Mr. Cronin and wished him success in his new role; “David has made a very significant contribution to the Foundation since he joined as CEO in 2008. During that time, he has played a key role in developing and managing strategic relationships with leaders in philanthropy, business, art, culture, politics and sport. While we will be very sorry to see David leave at this time, we want to express our deep appreciation for his work as CEO and for the strong legacy he will leave behind here in the University.”
Dr. Des Fitzgerald, President of the University of Limerick, paid tribute to David; “it is impossible to overstate the importance of the University of Limerick Foundation to the University and to the wider Community here in Limerick and further afield. As CEO David has overseen a very successful period of fund raising, partnership building and investment which has greatly helped the University to progress its mission. I want to acknowledge the very significant contribution which David made as CEO and I know he will continue to be an Ambassador for the University in the years ahead.”
Mr. Cronin will work with the UL Foundation Board in the weeks ahead to ensure a smooth transition.
